Prof. Enes Pasalic, PhD

Prof. dr. Enes Pasalic  is one of the world's leading scientists in the field of design and analysis of symmetric ciphers, and the study of cryptographically interesting discrete combinatorial structures, especially Boolean functions. He participated in the development of the S-box primitive in the new encryption standard used in the 3G mobile network and in the SNOW 3G streaming code for use in the 3GPP standard.  In 2017 he was the recipient of the  Scientific Excellence Award in the field of science and technology and in 2019 he was a recipient of the Zois Award  for outstanding scientific achievements in the field of cryptography. Presently, Enes Pasalic is a professor and researcher at UP FAMNIT and UP IAM.

Asst. Prof. Samir Hodžić, PhD

Samir Hodžić received his Ph.D. degree in cryptology from the University of Primorska, FAMNIT, Koper, Slovenia, in 2017. In 2019-2020, he has been with the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) as a postdoctoral researcher.  He is currently a docent and researcher on UP FAMNIT.  His research area is mainly symmetric-key cryptographic primitives, in particular, the design of cryptographic Boolean functions, and (post-quantum) cryptanalysis of block ciphers.

Nastja Cepak, PhD

Nastja Cepak was a young researcher on UP IAM and has finished her PhD in cryptography in 2018. Now she is a part of the Center of Cryptography on UP IAM and works as an assistant on UP FAMNIT. Her research areas are Boolean functions with high nonlienarity, and permutations over finite fields. She is also partly employed by the company CREAplus, where she works with the practical side of cryptography and computer security, and performs technical trainings for encryption products abroad.

René Rodríguez Aldama

René is a PhD student at UP Famnit working under the supervision of prof. Enes Pasalic. He is currently in his third year. His main research interests are linear codes and Boolean functions. He is interested in their properties and their interactions with different mathematical objects. He has also a special interest in cryptanalytic techniques applied to block ciphers such as non-linear distinguishers.

Sadmir Kudin

Sadmir Kudin is a young researcher at UP IAM and currently in his third year of doctoral studies at UP FAMNIT under the supervision of prof. Enes Pasalic.  His main research areas are cryptographically significant (vectorial) Boolean functions and their properties, and various types of functions defined over finite fields.

Amar Bapić

Amar Bapić is a young researcher at UP IAM and currently in his second year of doctoral studies at UP FAMNIT under the supervision of prof. Enes Pasalic. His main research areas are (vectorial) Boolean functions with high nonlinearity as well as the construction and properties of plateaued Boolean functions and the notion of their duals, as well as the secondary constructions of bent Boolean functions outside the known primary classes.
